Pilgrimage to the innermost, Summer Retreat 2026

Pilgrimage to the innermost is a six-day small scale, intensive retreat.

A journey or a pilgrimage where we try to get in contact with the deepest source within oneself and explore how profound changes can subtly and naturally emerge from within, without trying to force any change to come. Change comes naturally when you begin to act from an asset in yourself that is deeper and more subtle.

A process pointing both towards a richer and more awake everyday life and towards daring to take the next step in the development process of your private and professional life. It’s not a quick fix, it’s part of the long-term, maybe lifelong process it is to grow as a person and a professional.  We hope you’ll get tools, methods and insights that can help you on the way towards a sustainable direction.

Meditation and the embodied awareness practice Social Presencing Theater (SPT) will be the main practice during the retreat. The two methods are intertwined into a very powerful awareness training.  We use the training to explore and dive into the inner capacities and life skills that you can acquire from practicing embodiment and presence. We will refine our capacity of getting and staying in touch with ourselves, others, and nature.

We investigate the practice more deeply. The retreat is more about deepening your practice than broadening it.

With our routines of practices over the 6 days we strengthen our sense of being present in the surrounding nature, in the social field of participants and facilitators, in our own bodies. To sense deeper into the balance of doing and non-doing we take the two days in the middle of the retreat to take excursions into remote natural environments on a mountain and by the water, thus diving into the yang qualities of taking initiative, stepping forward, persevering in going ahead, and the yin qualities of letting go, persevering in following, letting things happen, not doing.

THE RETREAT

You will receive process questions and instructions before you leave home, so that the journey can become an integral part of the process, the journey to the retreat is not just a transport route, but an important part of the retreat/pilgrimage process.

The basic frames will be similar to a meditation retreat. That means that we limit our contacts with the outside world in order to deepen our individual and collective journey. We also structure the day in a way that will support a deepening process. The retreat format is offering an intense and expanded experience of a safe space, where vulnerability, subtility, and complexity can unfold.

The overall structure of the retreat follows the five phases of a change process, as described in the awareness based learning and leadership method Theory U. Theory U will also serve as one of our main theoretical frameworks to navigate the retreat process.

We will be spending time in the group as well as having solo time. There will be time for both reflection, dialogue, feedback, and silence.

It will also be an integrated part of the retreat for participants to help with daily duties such as preparing food, making the tables and similar.

Retreat day 1 and 2: we arrive and start the journey down the left side of the U

Retreat day 3 and 4: At the retreat, will be in silence in nature, a “yang-day” where we weave the practice into walking and a “yin-day” where we stay in the same place and examine what ”not doing” can offer.

Retreat day 5 and 6: The journey goes up the right side of the U, how can insights be harvested and implemented in everyday life on the other side of the retreat.

We use SPT as we have learned it from Arawana Hayashi, in terms of meditation, Anders will introduce the bidirectional practice which is the main practice in the Dzogchen training Anders has learned from Jes Bertelsen.

PARTICIPATION

Retreats have been used in most wisdom traditions to deepen practice, the time between retreats has been used to integrate insights and assets from the retreat into everyday life, an upgraded new normal that becomes the starting point for the next retreat’s deepening process. Read more about retreat

The retreat design allows every participant to work from where they are in their own process and life, right now. The program will deepen and develop individual skills, independent of previous experience with SPT and meditation.

We welcome both previous participants from SPT summer retreats and SPT Deep Dive retreats and even new participants. If you are new, you should either have previous SPT and/or meditation experience. It is an intensive retreat process, therefore it is not suitable if you do not have previous experience; if you are in doubt contact us for a dialogue.

Each person has responsibility for him- or herself. Spending time with yourself in silence can be challenging and requires a certain basic physical balance. The team will of course be supportive, but in the end you need to take responsibility for your own experience.

Testimonials from participants in previous retreats

What we work with can be called awareness-based existential training.
The participants work from where they are in their own process.
Many return to the retreat again and again, they make an appointment with themselves, to give their own development process time and space.

Here are some words from a participants 2025:

«For me, the retreat Pilgrimage to the Inner Most was a very valuable and personally deeply enriching experience on my journey toward myself. The combination of meditation and Social Presencing Theater opened up a profound inner access on the one hand, and on the other hand it allowed for rich relational experiences that were co-created through the contact with the other participants. The two days spent in nature wonderfully expanded the seminar space in a physical sense and further deepened what was experienced. The calm, present guidance of Andrea and Anders created a space for me in which trust and inward and outward encounter could unfold in a beautiful way, enabling me to reach a deeper level in meeting myself.»

Dr. Monica Boos, Organizational Development Consultant & Coach

Or another participant 2024:

The week with Andrea, Vivian and Anders was a colourful blend of inner and outer movements: a journey to a far away and scarcely populated corner of the earth, a rediscovery of inner conditions that seemed long gone, an adventure wandering through intricate gardens and inner areas, a coming home into the realm of a caring and diverse community. What impressed me was how familiar it felt for me to experience myself as part of this group and how naturally everything moved on. This kindness with just a little emphasis, the kindness that does not need any pressure and authority – this is what I take home and I trust in it being effective. Thank you!

SPT Deep Dive 2022

INVITATION

We invite you to an intensive SPT retreat. The intention is to explore the deeper, more subtle,
and complex layers of the SPT practice and social fields. During the retreat we work with a
combination of SPT, meditation, and nature exercises which all helps you to get deeper in your practice and allow you to softly get in touch with the edges of your comfort zone. The SPT Deep Dive retreat is an opportunity to give your own process some directed attention, to have the time and space for reflection and allowing yourself to stay with the not knowing.

Our focus will be on deepening previous SPT training with emphasis on getting more clarity, inspiration, and connection between meditation practice and SPT and to explore how those two kind of practices can enrich each other and your daily life and work. In general, SPT can be used in almost any situation if we focus on applying the inner capacities and life skills that we can get from the practice (rather than applying the exercises), acquiring and developing those capacities and skills will  therefore be at the heart of the retreat process regardless of if your aim is a personal or a professional learning journey.

During the five days together we will get deeper into the nuances of the SPT work. Get more aware of habits. Discover stuck patterns. Lean into moments of MA. Sense into areas of more life and freedom. Play with possibilities. It is a small scale retreat, which creates an intimate space that comes with an
invitation to share our vulnerability, subtility, authenticity, and our inner raw strength. Together we refine our capacities of getting and staying in touch with ourselves, others, and nature.

Please note, to participate in this retreat previous SPT training is required.

THE RETREAT

The basic frames will be similar to a meditation retreat. That means that we limit our contacts with the outside world in order to deepen our individual and collective journey. We also structure the day in a way that will support a deepening process. We will be spending time in group as well as having solo time. There will be time for both reflection, dialogue, feedback, and silence. It will also be an integrated part of the retreat for participants to help with daily duties such as preparing food, making the tables and similar.

Looking for eagles, but finding butterflies, by Anders Fabricius

PARTICIPATION

The retreat design is focused on deepening an existing SPT practice. Gathering participants who are already familiar with SPT, gives us the opportunity to explore the deeper, more subtle, and complex layers of the individual and the collective practice and process. The retreat will be followed up by a Zoom call to reflect and deepen the  process and the learning as well as help ground the experience from the retreat in the everyday context of the participants.

Participation in the SPT Deep Dive retreat requires that you are well acquainted with SPT. We believe you have attended the SPT Summer Retreat or other SPT basic courses, OR that you have completed an advanced SPT training program, OR you have  participated in a SPT practice group or can document a SPT routine in another way (for example a letter of recommendation from a SPT teacher). It is also an advantage, but NOT a requirement, if you have a regular meditation practice. If you don’t meet the requirements, we suggest you to participate in the SPT Summer Retreat  (July 22nd – 26th 2022), which is a similar retreat offer that is open to everyone, regardless of previous experience with SPT.

processes. All of us have a background studying and / or using Theory U and we have practiced different kind of embodied awareness practices such as martial arts, Qigong or Tai Chi.

Anders Fabricius; SPT teacher, body worker, gardener and teacher on meditation courses and retreats. He has more than 40 years of meditation practice and embodied awareness training—Tai Chi and Qigong. Nature has always been an integrated part of his practice. For the past 21 years, Anders has been training Dzogchen meditation with the Danish meditation teacher Jes Bertelsen. As a teacher, Anders’ main interest is to
carry out training in a simple and effective way, without compromising on depth and complexity.

Liv Fabricius; SPT teacher. She holds a Master of Science with a major in Quality Management and Leadership (earned with a thesis on Theory U). She has been training Dzogchen meditation with the Danish meditation teacher Jes Bertelsen since 2005. Liv has focused on improving the pedagogical approach to SPT, with the intention of making the practice more accessible as well as helping participants to get more precise in their SPT practice.

Vivian Fabricius; advances SPT practitioner with more than 40 years of meditation practice. She is educated reflexology therapist and have been teaching Qigong and
Tai Chi. She is the hostess of the retreat place and will be responsible for practical things like food and accommodation during the SPT Summer Retreat.

THE RETREAT PLACE

The retreat will take place in northern Jämtland, a sparsely populated forest and mountain district in
Sweden. The houses are traditional Swedish wooden houses and they are surrounded by a big flower and kitchen garden that provides organic food as well as space for contemplation.

The property is not isolated from the outside world, as it is close to the road and there are neighbors around, however the large garden creates a feeling of protection and peace. Within a stone’s throw away you will find wild nature; forest, rivers and lakes. Anders and Vivian Fabricius own and live at the property since 1994, and have worked ever since to cultivate the special qualities of calm and care that permeates the retreat place.

SPT Summer Retreat 2022

INVITATION

For the third time we offer a small scale, intensive summer retreat over five days, at our retreat facility in Sweden. We provide a safe space for you to investigate sources of deeper life skills and meaningful action. The retreat gives you time, space, and support to dive into a personal and professional development process where you will reflect on where you are in life right now as well as investigate possible next steps. You will be in beautiful surroundings and vast wilderness, hosted and guided by an experienced team of teachers and practitioners.

During the retreat we will explore and dive into the inner capacities and life skills that you can acquire from practicing embodiment and presence. We will refine our capacity of getting and staying in touch with ourselves, others, and nature. Meditation and the embodied awareness practice Social Presencing Theater (SPT) are the basic training strategies during the retreat. The connection to nature will be an
integrated part of the program, we will involve the garden surrounding the retreat as well as the wild
nature in the area.

For many of the former SPT Summer Retreat participants the experience has been unique and life
changing. Many of the changes are described as “big but subtle” and the development process often keeps on working and resonating in the participants systems for a long time.

THE RETREAT

The basic frames will be similar to a meditation retreat. That means that we limit our contacts with the outside world in order to deepen our individual and collective journey. We also structure the day in a way that will support a deepening process. The retreat format is offering an intense and expanded experience of a safe space, where vulnerability, subtility, and complexity can unfold.

The overall structure of the retreat follows the five phases of a change process, as described in the
awareness based learning and leadership method Theory U. Theory U will also serve as one of our main theoretical frameworks to navigate the retreat process.

We will be spending time in group as well as having solo time. There will be time for both reflection,
dialogue, feedback, and silence. It will also be an integrated part of the retreat for participants to help with daily duties such as preparing food, making the tables and similar.

PARTICIPATION

The retreat design allows every participant to work from where they are in their own process and life, right now. The program will deepen and develop individual skills, independent of previous experience with SPT and meditation. The retreat will be followed up by a Zoom call to reflect and deepen the
process and the learning as well as help ground the practice in the everyday context of the participants.

The SPT Summer Retreat is open for participants that are new to SPT and / or meditation, as well as
experienced or advanced practitioners. We also welcome previous SPT Summer Retreat participants to come back for a new journey with us, every new development journey will be different and potentially deeper.

MEDITATION ● SPT ● NATURE ● THEORY U
