Pilgrimage to the innermost, Summer Retreat 2026

Pilgrimage to the innermost is a six-day small scale, intensive retreat.

A journey or a pilgrimage where we try to get in contact with the deepest source within oneself and explore how profound changes can subtly and naturally emerge from within, without trying to force any change to come. Change comes naturally when you begin to act from an asset in yourself that is deeper and more subtle.

A process pointing both towards a richer and more awake everyday life and towards daring to take the next step in the development process of your private and professional life. It’s not a quick fix, it’s part of the long-term, maybe lifelong process it is to grow as a person and a professional.  We hope you’ll get tools, methods and insights that can help you on the way towards a sustainable direction.

Meditation and the embodied awareness practice Social Presencing Theater (SPT) will be the main practice during the retreat. The two methods are intertwined into a very powerful awareness training.  We use the training to explore and dive into the inner capacities and life skills that you can acquire from practicing embodiment and presence. We will refine our capacity of getting and staying in touch with ourselves, others, and nature.

We investigate the practice more deeply. The retreat is more about deepening your practice than broadening it.

With our routines of practices over the 6 days we strengthen our sense of being present in the surrounding nature, in the social field of participants and facilitators, in our own bodies. To sense deeper into the balance of doing and non-doing we take the two days in the middle of the retreat to take excursions into remote natural environments on a mountain and by the water, thus diving into the yang qualities of taking initiative, stepping forward, persevering in going ahead, and the yin qualities of letting go, persevering in following, letting things happen, not doing.

THE RETREAT

You will receive process questions and instructions before you leave home, so that the journey can become an integral part of the process, the journey to the retreat is not just a transport route, but an important part of the retreat/pilgrimage process.

The basic frames will be similar to a meditation retreat. That means that we limit our contacts with the outside world in order to deepen our individual and collective journey. We also structure the day in a way that will support a deepening process. The retreat format is offering an intense and expanded experience of a safe space, where vulnerability, subtility, and complexity can unfold.

The overall structure of the retreat follows the five phases of a change process, as described in the awareness based learning and leadership method Theory U. Theory U will also serve as one of our main theoretical frameworks to navigate the retreat process.

We will be spending time in the group as well as having solo time. There will be time for both reflection, dialogue, feedback, and silence.

It will also be an integrated part of the retreat for participants to help with daily duties such as preparing food, making the tables and similar.

Retreat day 1 and 2: we arrive and start the journey down the left side of the U

Retreat day 3 and 4: At the retreat, will be in silence in nature, a “yang-day” where we weave the practice into walking and a “yin-day” where we stay in the same place and examine what ”not doing” can offer.

Retreat day 5 and 6: The journey goes up the right side of the U, how can insights be harvested and implemented in everyday life on the other side of the retreat.

We use SPT as we have learned it from Arawana Hayashi, in terms of meditation, Anders will introduce the bidirectional practice which is the main practice in the Dzogchen training Anders has learned from Jes Bertelsen.

PARTICIPATION

Retreats have been used in most wisdom traditions to deepen practice, the time between retreats has been used to integrate insights and assets from the retreat into everyday life, an upgraded new normal that becomes the starting point for the next retreat’s deepening process. Read more about retreat

The retreat design allows every participant to work from where they are in their own process and life, right now. The program will deepen and develop individual skills, independent of previous experience with SPT and meditation.

We welcome both previous participants from SPT summer retreats and SPT Deep Dive retreats and even new participants. If you are new, you should either have previous SPT and/or meditation experience. It is an intensive retreat process, therefore it is not suitable if you do not have previous experience; if you are in doubt contact us for a dialogue.

Each person has responsibility for him- or herself. Spending time with yourself in silence can be challenging and requires a certain basic physical balance. The team will of course be supportive, but in the end you need to take responsibility for your own experience.

Testimonials from participants in previous retreats

What we work with can be called awareness-based existential training.
The participants work from where they are in their own process.
Many return to the retreat again and again, they make an appointment with themselves, to give their own development process time and space.

Here are some words from a participants 2025:

«For me, the retreat Pilgrimage to the Inner Most was a very valuable and personally deeply enriching experience on my journey toward myself. The combination of meditation and Social Presencing Theater opened up a profound inner access on the one hand, and on the other hand it allowed for rich relational experiences that were co-created through the contact with the other participants. The two days spent in nature wonderfully expanded the seminar space in a physical sense and further deepened what was experienced. The calm, present guidance of Andrea and Anders created a space for me in which trust and inward and outward encounter could unfold in a beautiful way, enabling me to reach a deeper level in meeting myself.»

Dr. Monica Boos, Organizational Development Consultant & Coach

Or another participant 2024:

The week with Andrea, Vivian and Anders was a colourful blend of inner and outer movements: a journey to a far away and scarcely populated corner of the earth, a rediscovery of inner conditions that seemed long gone, an adventure wandering through intricate gardens and inner areas, a coming home into the realm of a caring and diverse community. What impressed me was how familiar it felt for me to experience myself as part of this group and how naturally everything moved on. This kindness with just a little emphasis, the kindness that does not need any pressure and authority – this is what I take home and I trust in it being effective. Thank you!

THE RETREAT PLACE

The retreat will take place in northern Jämtland, a sparsely populated forest and mountain district in Sweden. The houses are traditional Swedish wooden houses, and they are surrounded by a big flower and kitchen garden that provides organic food as well as space for contemplation.

The property is not isolated from the outside world, as it is close to the road and there are neighbors around, however the large garden creates a feeling of protection and peace. Within a stone’s throw away you will find wild nature; forest, rivers and lakes. Anders and Vivian Fabricius own and live at the property since 1994, and for 30 years they have been working on the special qualities of calm and care that permeates the retreat place.

A Deeper Longing

A deeper longing.
Feeling the social field move me, move within me, being moved.
A sudden sense of connection across the room.
The soft touch of a warm back on my shoulder.
Reconnecting to earth, heavy feet, sunshine in my eyes.
Belonging.
Soft front, strong back. I can take you all in without stumbling.
I hold the room – I am the room, the space expands.
The movement of a hand grows into a symphony of arms.
It is all an invitation.
My truth, your truth, our truth.
The field becomes alive with that what we feed it.
The shadows are dancing on the wall.
The eyes of my back feel you.
We are creating together. Is the impulse mine or is it yours?
The division gets blurry, makes no sense, it is as it is.
Rewriting the rules as we crawl to the center, through a crowd and out.
In the end it is always there within my grasp.
The longing. I belong.
The subtle message gets washed away as the mind starts to wander.
My deeper longing, I was just there…

SPT Summer Retreat 2022

INVITATION

For the third time we offer a small scale, intensive summer retreat over five days, at our retreat facility in Sweden. We provide a safe space for you to investigate sources of deeper life skills and meaningful action. The retreat gives you time, space, and support to dive into a personal and professional development process where you will reflect on where you are in life right now as well as investigate possible next steps. You will be in beautiful surroundings and vast wilderness, hosted and guided by an experienced team of teachers and practitioners.

During the retreat we will explore and dive into the inner capacities and life skills that you can acquire from practicing embodiment and presence. We will refine our capacity of getting and staying in touch with ourselves, others, and nature. Meditation and the embodied awareness practice Social Presencing Theater (SPT) are the basic training strategies during the retreat. The connection to nature will be an
integrated part of the program, we will involve the garden surrounding the retreat as well as the wild
nature in the area.

For many of the former SPT Summer Retreat participants the experience has been unique and life
changing. Many of the changes are described as “big but subtle” and the development process often keeps on working and resonating in the participants systems for a long time.

SPT Summer Retreat Sweden

A few spots left – so we are open for late applications.

Social Presencing Theater (SPT) and meditation as sources of deeper Life Skills

Capacity building and deepening of the practice, through:
MEDITATION • SPT • NATURE • THEORY U

The intention

• Deepen and develop individual practice
• Explore the relationship between meditation and SPT
• Connecting inner nature with outer nature
• Provide theoretical background to explore the effectiveness of SPT
• Deepen the relationship between meditation and SPT

The basic frames will be similar to a meditation retreat – we limit our contacts with the outside world in order to deepen our individual and collective journey. We reconnect with our most natural (re)sources by turning our attention towards ourselves.

We will explore the relationship between meditation and SPT and dive into the inner capacities and life skills that you can acquire from practicing embodiment and presence. We refine our capacities of getting and staying in touch with ourselves, others and nature. The connection to nature will be an important part of the SPT Summer Retreat and we will involve both the garden and the wild nature in the area throughout the program.

SPT was developed as a mindfulness and awareness of body method within the framework of the social technology of presencing, Theory U. We will introduce the main aspects of Theory U and explore them more deeply with our practice. This allows us to generate ideas and prototypes how to utilize SPT for our personal development and as a means of transformation in our professional roles. The emphasis of the program is the practice and the shared experiences, but we also work with the relevant theoretical background that can help us navigate and deepen the exploration of the SPT practice.

The SPT Summer Retreat will count as a basic SPT course and qualify participants to join advanced SPT Programs. The program will also deepen and develop individual skills independent of previous experience with SPT and meditation. To deepen the process and the learning, three follow up calls on Zoom will be offered, to help participants further ground the practice in their everyday context.

Covid-19 update, offering an adjusted retreat program

We have decided to cancel the SPT Summer Retreat in its current format, due to the Covid-19 situation.

We have decided to offer an adjusted program for those who are still able or wish to join. It will be the same dates and a reduced price (€225 – basically convering only food and accomodation). Anders Fabricius will be the main teacher, supported by Liv and Vivian – Andrea will not join us this year.

The program will not count as a SPT basic course, as some of the exercises depends a minimum number of participants. Our idea is to offer a program that can keep a high quality, regardless of the number of participants who can make it. What we will offer is a retreat program with more emphasis on the individual process and skills, building capacities through meditation, SPT and embodiment training, nature experiences and using Theory U as an integrated framework. We will be able to do most of the planned SPT exercises, with some adjustments and with more ephasis on the individual capacity building and less on the social journey. There will be few participants and more possibility to adjust according to the individual needs.

All participants will also get a single room, unless they explicitly wish to share the room with a partner / friend that they are coming with.

If you are interested to join this adjusted program, please contact us – we will be open for late applications until 1 week before the start of the program or when the maximum number (7 in order to give everyone a single room) of participants has been reached. Please write to info@fabriciusresurs.se for more information or to sign up.
